What is a MacBook?

The MacBook is a brand of Macintosh laptop computers designed by Apple. These laptop computers make use of the macOS operating system since 2006. In 2005, the Mac switched to Intel CPUs instead of PowerPC processors, and the PowerBook and iBook names were replaced by MacBook. The MacBook line includes the original MacBook, the MacBook Pro, and the MacBook Air. There were only two separate MacBook lines from 2006 to 2012, and again from 2015 to 2019.

What is a MacBook

Apple introduced the new MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models on November 10, 2020, which contain the new Apple M1 system on a chip. The editions of the MacBook Pro with Intel processors will continue to be sold by Apple. The MacBook series was first contained in designs identical to the PowerBook and iBook; in current times, the MacBook Air was released for the first time, with the MacBook Air employing a unibody metal construction.

Also, a black plastic keyboard has been included within this new construction, which was used on the MacBook Air for the first time. The MacBook keyboard now has black keys on a shiny aluminium shell, and the MacBook line has evolved. With the polycarbonate MacBook, a design element was included for the first time; nevertheless, the MacBook family’s lids are closed with the help of a magnet rather than a mechanical latch. In the old MacBook lineup, batteries, drives, and Memory were accessible, although all components like the newest compact lineup solders or glues keep in place. Below is explained all types of MacBooks.

MacBook

Form late 2011 up through 2014, the production of the original MacBook was over, but at the starting of 2015, it was relaunched. In this year, names such as MacBook Retina and New MacBook were coming out, and many significant changes were involved in the 2015 version. For the keyboard switches, two innovations, a butterfly mechanism and a butterfly mechanism, were included.

MacBook Pro

Apple’s higher-end laptop, the MacBook Pro, is substantially thicker and can be slightly bigger than the MacBook. It’s also known as the MBP. In October 2018, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, the current generation, was introduced. It has a Touch ID sensor embedded into the power button, a touch-sensitive OLED display strip in place of the function keys, and four USB-C connections that can also be used as Thunderbolt 3 ports.

It is much ideal for users who need a laptop to perform highly intensive tasks, for example, video editing. The MacBook Pro was the first Apple laptop to use the company’s proprietary Thunderbolt interface, which was initially introduced in 2011. Only two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports and traditional function keys are available on the 13-inch MacBook Pro, as well as a less priced option.

The base MacBook Pro model has had quad-core CPUs and the Touch Bar since July 2019, however it still only has two USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 connectors, just like the higher-end variants. Apple announced the 16-inch MacBook Pro on November 13, 2019, replacing the previous generation’s 15-inch model and replacing the butterfly keyboard with a scissor mechanism keyboard. A fan is included within the M1 Pro that allows sustained operation of the M1 chip as well as its performance level.

MacBook Air

Apple’s least expensive notebook computer was the MacBook Air, which is a lightweight alternative to the MacBook. As a result, the MacBook Air is not available with a Retina Display. The MacBook Air was the lightest and thinnest of the MacBook lineup at the time it was introduced for the first time in January 2008. Although, above the 2006 – 2012 MacBook, its first iteration was introduced as a premium ultraportable positioned.

Later on, the price of its next versions was begun decrease. And, with the MacBook’s development halted, the MacBook Air became the entry-level Macintosh portable.

A significant change was made in the design of the MacBook Air on 30 October 2018, in favor of a headphone jack and two USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports, dropped the SD card slot, the USB Type-A ports, MagSafe. Some features were added to it, such as a Force Touch trackpad, Intel Y-series Amber Lake i5 CPUs, a Retina display, a third-generation butterfly mechanism keyboard, etc. Also, in the fourth-generation MacBook Pro, the Touch ID sensor was found, but without the Touch Bar.

Discontinued

Initially, the original MacBook served as entry-level laptops that were a line of Macintosh portable computers. It was introduced in May 2006, which replaced the iBook G4 by following the Mac transition to Intel processors rather than PowerPC processors. It was withdrawn for consumer purchase on July 20, 2011, and for educational institutions in February 2012, with the 2nd generation MacBook Air taking its place. This is because the starting price of the MacBook was the same as the 11-inch model introduced in 2010. The Retina MacBook, a brand of Macintosh portable laptops, was discontinued on July 9, 2019. It was released in March 2015 and has since been replaced by the 13-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display. It had better performance, USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 ports as well a lower base price.
