Joomla- Content Menu

Click on the “Content” button from the Joomla Taskbar, and a drop-down menu will be displayed containing several options. The following are the options available under the Content Menu:

Article Manager

In Article Manager, you can create the standard pages containing images, text, and hyperlinks. To access the article manager, navigate to the “Content – Articles” menu from the Joomla Taskbar. It will look like the following screen:

Check out the details about the column header which is available on the article manager page:

Checkbox It is used to select one or more items.
Status It is used to specify the status of the page or article, i.e., Published/Unpublished/Archived/Trashed.
Title It is used to specify the name of the title, which will be displayed in the menu.
Access It is used to specify the access level, i.e., Public or Private.
Author It is used to specify the author’s name, who has created the article.
Language It is used to specify the language used in the article.
Date It is used to specify the article’s creation date.
Hits It is used to specify the number of times the article was viewed.
ID It is the unique identification number that is assigned to the items automatically.

let’s discuss about the search box available on the article manager page, which helps to find the article from the list easily.

You can easily search the article by filtering any of the given boxes, i.e., select status, select category, select access, select author, select language, select tag, or select max levels.

Add New Article

Navigate to “Content – Articles – Add New Article” from the Joomla Taskbar. You will see the following screen:

Here, this screen provides options to create a new article or web page. Type the title in the Title bar and write your content under the content tab.

Category Manager

The category manager is used to create categories for the articles, which allows grouping your content in a better way. Navigate to “Content – Categories” from the Joomla Taskbar to access the category manager. The category manager will look like the below screenshot:

The following description explains the details about the options available on the category manager page:

Checkbox It is used to select one or more category items by selecting the box.
Status It is used to specify the status of the category, i.e., Published or Unpublished.
Title It is used to specify the name of the title in the category.
Access It is used to specify the access level, i.e., Public or Private.
Language It is used to specify the language used in the category.
ID It is the unique identification number, which is assigned to the category items automatically.

Featured Articles

To access the featured manager, navigate to the “Content – Featured Articles” from the Joomla Taskbar.

Here, the yellow star mark indicates that the article is featured. The star mark is available next to each article so that you can make any article featured. A column header in the featured manager page contains the same options as the articles manager.

Field Manager

Joomla field manager is used to create different types of fields, including calendars, checkboxes, lists, images, and much more. These Joomla fields can improve the core parts of Joomla, including articles, contact forms, users. Navigate to the “Content – Fields” from the Joomla Taskbar to open Joomla field manager.

You can perform several tasks such as creating new fields, editing existing fields, publishing or unpublishing fields, etc from the toolbar available on Joomla field manager page. Check out the details about the column header which is available on the field manager page:

Ordering It is indicated by the ‘Up-Down Arrows’ and used to set the desired order of items. You can activate this option, drag and drop the items by dragging the three dots bar icon on the desired position.
Checkbox It is used to select one or more field items by clicking on the box. It can be used to perform actions such as edit, publish, or unpublish for multiple items.
Status It is used to specify the status of the field items, i.e., Published/Unpublished or Trashed.
Title It is used to specify the name of the title for the field items.
Type It is used to specify the type of field items.
Field Group It is used to specify the assigned field group of the field items.
Access It is used to specify the access level, i.e., Public or Private.
Language It is used to specify the language used for the field items.
ID It is the unique identification number, which is assigned to the field items automatically.

Field Groups

Field groups are used to determine where a field should appear when you are editing an article. To access the field group page, navigate to the “Content – Field Groups” from the Joomla Taskbar. Just like the field manager page, it also provides toolbar, column header, and filters.

Media Manager

The media manager is used to manage all the media files. You can upload a new file or delete the existing ones using the media manager. To access the media manager, click on the “Content – Media” from the Joomla Taskbar. For providing a better user interface, the media manager provides two options, such as a thumbnail view and a detail view.

Thumbnail View

The thumbnail view shows the preview of files such as images and icons of the sub-folders in a grid view. A thumbnail view looks like the below screenshot:

Details View

Detail view displays the files and folders in a list view containing the file details such as file dimension and file size. When we select the details view, the media manager looks like the below screenshot:
