List of Cabinet Minister of India

The Cabinet Ministers of India are the Executive Body as well as the Central Ministers led by the Prime Minister of India. Cabinet Ministers are a part of the Union Council of Ministers that consists of; Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister (if any), Cabinet Minister, Minister of States, and Minister of State (Independent Charge). However, it is the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Ministers who have supreme authority to make the decision of different departments of India.

List of Cabinet Minister of India

According to article 75 1A of the constituent of India, only 15% of the total members of Lok Sabha can be appointed as the Union Minister of India. The Cabinet Ministers of India are appointed by the President of the country on the opinion of the Prime Minister. All the Cabinet Ministers are heads of their allotted department.

Role and Responsibilities of Cabinet Ministers

  • The Cabinet Ministers are the leading policymaker.
  • They are responsible for the implementation of the policies made by them.
  • They are also the adviser of the President as well as they report to the Prime Minister.
  • As an individual, they oversee their department, but collectively they are responsible for making decisions on government’s behalf and also are responsible for passing the bills in parliament. They conduct their government in the parliament.

Recently the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi underwent the changes, and some new faces became part of the Cabinet Minister. Now there is a total of 30 Cabinet Ministers in India, including the Prime Minister. Here, I am giving the list and brief details of the Cabinet Minister of India.

1. Narendra Modi:

Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 14th Prime Minister of India. He was born on 17th September 1950. He is the leader of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), and under his leadership, the party won two times in the 2014 and 2019 elections with a big majority in Lok Sabha. He chaired second time as a Prime Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till present. Mr Modi is the leader of Lok Sabha from 26th May 2014 till the present. He is also a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He has done his BA from Delhi University and MA from Gujarat University. He also served the country as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 7th October 2001 to 22nd May 2014 and as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He got the award of List of State Honour. 2. Amit Shah:

Amit Anil Chandra Shah is the Home Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 22nd October 1964 in Bombay, Maharashtra. He did his BSc from Gujarat University. He served as well as serving the country variously as the Minister of State, Government of Gujarat, as a two times member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, member of Rajya Sabha, member of Lok Sabha, 10th president of the Bharatiya Janta Party, Chairperson of NDA and as a first Minister of Co-operation.

3. Rajnath Singh:

Rajnath Singh is the Defence Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 10th July 1951 in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh. He did MSc from Gorakhpur University. He is a politician as well as a lecture by profession. He is a member of BJP and served the country variously as President of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha, 9th President of the Bharatiya Janta Party, member of Rajya Sabha, member of Lok Sabha, 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Road Transport and Highways Minister, Agriculture Minister and as a former Home Minister of India.

4. Nirmala Sitharaman:

Nirmala Sitharaman is the finance minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. She was born on 18th August 1959. She is the member and former Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She also served and serving the country variously as she was a member of parliament from 2014 -2016, minister of commerce and industry from 2014-2017, defence minister from 2017-2019, as a minister of corporate affairs from 2019 till now. In Forbes 2020 list of most powerful women in the World, she was at 41st rank.

5. Nitin Gadkari:

6. S Jaishankar:

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is the Minister of External Affairs from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 9th January 1955 in New Delhi. He did his BA and MA from Delhi University and MA, MPhil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. By occupation, he is a Civil Servant (IFS) and a Politician. He is a member of BJP, and he served as well serving the country variously as Ambassador of India to the Czech Republic, High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Ambassador of India to China, Ambassador of India to the United States, Foreign Secretary of India, and the member of Rajya Sabha. Mr Jaishankar got the Padma Shri award in 2019.

7. Narendra Singh Tomar:

12. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi:

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is the Minority Minister of India from 12th July 2016 till the present. He was born on 15th October 1957 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He did his studies at the Asian Academy of Higher Studies, Noida. He is a member of BJP and served the country variously as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State for Minority Affairs. Now he is also serving as the Deputy Leader of the Rajya Sabha.

13. Pralhad Joshi:

Pralhad Joshi is the Coal and Mines Minister and the Parliamentary Affairs Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 27th November 1962 in Bijapur, Mysore. 14. Mahendra Nath Pandey:

Earlier from 2001-2020, he was a member of the Indian National Congress, but he joined BJP in 2020, and presently he is a member of BJP.
