List of Cabinet Minister of India
The Cabinet Ministers of India are the Executive Body as well as the Central Ministers led by the Prime Minister of India. Cabinet Ministers are a part of the Union Council of Ministers that consists of; Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister (if any), Cabinet Minister, Minister of States, and Minister of State (Independent Charge). However, it is the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Ministers who have supreme authority to make the decision of different departments of India.
According to article 75 1A of the constituent of India, only 15% of the total members of Lok Sabha can be appointed as the Union Minister of India. The Cabinet Ministers of India are appointed by the President of the country on the opinion of the Prime Minister. All the Cabinet Ministers are heads of their allotted department.
Role and Responsibilities of Cabinet Ministers
- The Cabinet Ministers are the leading policymaker.
- They are responsible for the implementation of the policies made by them.
- They are also the adviser of the President as well as they report to the Prime Minister.
- As an individual, they oversee their department, but collectively they are responsible for making decisions on government’s behalf and also are responsible for passing the bills in parliament. They conduct their government in the parliament.
Recently the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi underwent the changes, and some new faces became part of the Cabinet Minister. Now there is a total of 30 Cabinet Ministers in India, including the Prime Minister. Here, I am giving the list and brief details of the Cabinet Minister of India.
List of Cabinet Ministers in India as of 7th July 2021:
1. Narendra Modi:
Narendra Damodardas Modi is the 14th Prime Minister of India. He was born on 17th September 1950. He is the leader of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), and under his leadership, the party won two times in the 2014 and 2019 elections with a big majority in Lok Sabha. He chaired second time as a Prime Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till present. Mr Modi is the leader of Lok Sabha from 26th May 2014 till the present. He is also a member of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He has done his BA from Delhi University and MA from Gujarat University. He also served the country as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 7th October 2001 to 22nd May 2014 and as a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. He got the award of List of State Honour. 2. Amit Shah:
Amit Anil Chandra Shah is the Home Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 22nd October 1964 in Bombay, Maharashtra. He did his BSc from Gujarat University. He served as well as serving the country variously as the Minister of State, Government of Gujarat, as a two times member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, member of Rajya Sabha, member of Lok Sabha, 10th president of the Bharatiya Janta Party, Chairperson of NDA and as a first Minister of Co-operation.
3. Rajnath Singh:
Rajnath Singh is the Defence Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 10th July 1951 in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh. He did MSc from Gorakhpur University. He is a politician as well as a lecture by profession. He is a member of BJP and served the country variously as President of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha, 9th President of the Bharatiya Janta Party, member of Rajya Sabha, member of Lok Sabha, 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Road Transport and Highways Minister, Agriculture Minister and as a former Home Minister of India.
4. Nirmala Sitharaman:
Nirmala Sitharaman is the finance minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. She was born on 18th August 1959. She is the member and former Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. She also served and serving the country variously as she was a member of parliament from 2014 -2016, minister of commerce and industry from 2014-2017, defence minister from 2017-2019, as a minister of corporate affairs from 2019 till now. In Forbes 2020 list of most powerful women in the World, she was at 41st rank.
5. Nitin Gadkari:
Nitin Gadkari is the Road Transport and Highways Minister of India from 26th May 2014 till the present. He was born on 27th May 1957 in Nagpur, Bombay. He did MCom and LLB from Nagpur University. By profession, he is a businessman, lawyer and politician. He is a member of BJP and served and is serving the country variously as a member of Lok Sabha, 9th President of Bharatiya Janta Party, Shipping Minister, and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises 2019 Minister. 6. S Jaishankar:
Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is the Minister of External Affairs from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 9th January 1955 in New Delhi. He did his BA and MA from Delhi University and MA, MPhil and PhD from Jawaharlal Nehru University. By occupation, he is a Civil Servant (IFS) and a Politician. He is a member of BJP, and he served as well serving the country variously as Ambassador of India to the Czech Republic, High Commissioner of India to Singapore, Ambassador of India to China, Ambassador of India to the United States, Foreign Secretary of India, and the member of Rajya Sabha. Mr Jaishankar got the Padma Shri award in 2019.
7. Narendra Singh Tomar:
Narendra Singh Tomar is the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 12th June 1957 in Morena Madhya Pradesh. He did his study at Jiwaji University. He is a member of BJP and served as well as serving the country variously as the member of Lok Sabha, Minister of Urban Development and Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister, Labour and Employment Minister, Steel Minister, Mines Minister, Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Food Processing Minister, Panchayati Raj Minister, and the Rural Development Minister.
8. Arjun Munda:
Arjun Munda is the Tribal Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 3rd May 1968 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He is a member of the BJP and was also appointed as National General Secretary by the party. he served the country variously as a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly, member of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister of Jharkhand and also serving as President, Archery Association of India and the Member of Lok Sabha
9. Smriti Zubin Irani:
Smriti Irani is the Women and Child Development Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. She was born on 23rd March 1976 in New Delhi. By occupation, she is a politician and actress. She is a member of BJP and served the country variously as the National President of BJP Mahila Morcha, member of Rajya Sabha, member of Lok Sabha, Human Resource Development Minister, Information and Broadcasting Minister and Textiles Minister.
10. Piyush Goyal:
Piyush Ved Prakash Goyal is the Commerce and Industry Minister from 30th May 2019 till the present. He is also the Consumer, Food and Public distribution Minister from 8th October 2020 till present and the textiles minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 13th June 1964. He did BCom from HR college, LLb from Government Law College and CA from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. By profession, he was a Chartered Accountant. He is a member of the BJP and served the country variously as former Railway Minister, Coal Minister, Minister of Mines, Minister of Renewable Energy, and the Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister. 11. Dharmendra Pradhan:
Dharmendra Pradhan is the Education Minister, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 26th June 1969 in Talcher, Odisha. He did PG in Anthropology from Utkal University. He is a member of the BJP and served the country variously as a member of Lok Sabha, a member of Rajya Sabha, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister, and the Steel Minister. 12. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi:
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi is the Minority Minister of India from 12th July 2016 till the present. He was born on 15th October 1957 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. He did his studies at the Asian Academy of Higher Studies, Noida. He is a member of BJP and served the country variously as Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of State for Minority Affairs. Now he is also serving as the Deputy Leader of the Rajya Sabha.
13. Pralhad Joshi:
Pralhad Joshi is the Coal and Mines Minister and the Parliamentary Affairs Minister of India from 30th May 2019 till the present. He was born on 27th November 1962 in Bijapur, Mysore. He is a member of the BJP and served as the State President of the Bharatiya Janta Party, Karnataka. Now he is also serving as a member of the Lok Sabha.
14. Mahendra Nath Pandey:
Mahendra Nath Pandey is the Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till the present. He was born on 15th October 1957 in Pakhapur, Uttar Pradesh. He did MA and PHD from BHU Banaras Hindu University. By profession, he is an Agriculturist. He is a member of BJP and served the country as a member of Lok Sabha, Minister of State Human Resource Development, State President of Bhartiya Janta Party, Uttar Pradesh, and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister.
15. Giriraj Singh:
Giriraj Singh is the Rural Development Minister and Panchayati Raj Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till the present. He was born on 8th September 1952 in Barahiya, Bihar. He did his study at Magadh University. He is a member of BJP and served the country as a member of Legislative Council, Bihar, Minister of State for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, and as an Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Fisheries Miniter. He is also serving as a member of the Lok Sabha.
16. Mansukh Mandaviya:
Mansukh L. Mandaviya is the Health and Family Welfare and the Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till the present. He was born on 1st June 1972 in Bhavnagar, Gujarat. He did his MA in political science from Bhavnagar University. By profession, he is a politician. He is a member of BJP and served the country as a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly, Chairman of Gujarat Agro Industries Corporation Limited, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, State Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers. 17. Jyotiraditya Scindia:
yotiraditya Scindia is the Civil Aviation Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till the present. He was born on 1st January 1971 in Bombay, Maharashtra. He did BA from Harvard University and MBA from Stanford University. He belongs to the Scindia family, who was the Ruler of Gwalior. Earlier from 2001-2020, he was a member of the Indian National Congress, but he joined BJP in 2020, and presently he is a member of BJP. He also served the country as State Minister(Independent Charge) for Power and a member of Lok Sabha. Presently he is also serving as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
18. Parshottam Rupala:
Parshottam Rupala is the Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 1st October 1954. He hid BSc from Saurashtra University and BEd from Gujarat University. By profession, he is a politician and agriculturist. He is a member of the BJP and served the country as State Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Presently he is also serving as the MP of Rajya Sabha from Gujarat. 19. Anurag Thakur:
Anurag Thakur is the Information and Broadcasting as well as Youth and Sports Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 24th October 1974 in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh. He did his BA from Doaba College. He is a member of the BJP and served the country as President of Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha, 33rd President of the Cricket Control Board in India, State Minister for Finance & Corporate Affairs. Presently he is also serving as a member of the Lok Sabha. He also served the country as a Captain in the Indian Army.
20. Narayan Tatu Rane:
Narayan Tatu Rane is the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 10th April 1952 in Mumbai. By profession, he is a politician. He joined BJP in 2019; before that, he was a member of several parties like; Maharashtra Swabhiman Paksha, Shiv Sena and Indian National Congress. He also served the country as a member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, Maharastra’s Industry Minister, Maharashtra’s Revenue Minister, Industry, Port & Employment Minister of Maharashtra, and the 13th Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
21. Sarbananda Sonowal:
Sarbananda Sonowal is the Ports, Shipping, and Waterways as well as Ayush Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 31st October 1962 in Dibrugarh, Assam. He did BA from Dhsk College, Dibrugarh University, and LLb, Bcj from Gauhati University. By profession, he is a politician. He is a member of BJP and served the country as President of BJP Assam Pradesh, member of Assam Legislative Assembly, member of Lok Sabha, State Minister for Entrepreneurship and Skill Development, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister, and the 14th Chief Minister of Assam. Presently he is also serving as a member of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs.
22. Virendra Kumar:
Dr Virendra Kumar is the Social Justice and Empowerment Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till the present. He was born on 27th February 1954 in Madhya Pradesh. He did PhD from Dr Hari Sigh University, Madhya Pradesh. He is a member of BJP and served the country as State Minister for Minority Affairs, State Minister for Women and Child Development and Pro-Tem speaker of 17th Lok Sabha. Presently he is serving as a member of the Lok Sabha.
23. Ramchandra Prasad Singh:
Ramchandra Prasad Singh, also known as RCP Singh, is the Steel Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 6th July 1958 in Nalanda, Bihar. He did his studies at Patna University and Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is a member of the Janta Dal (United) as well as the National Democratic Alliance. He served the country as a member of the Rajya Sabha and the National President of Janata Dal (United).
24. Ashwini Vaishnav:
Ashwini Vaishnav is the Railway, Communications, Electronics and Information Technology Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 18th July 1970 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. He did studies from Jai Narain Vyas University (Btech), IIT Kanpur (Mtech) and from Wharton School of the University Of Pennsylvania (MBA). By profession, he was a former IAS officer and an Entrepreneur. He is a member of the BJP and also serving the country as a member of the Rajya Sabha.
25. Pashu Pati Kumar Paras:
Pashupati Kumar Paras is the Food and Processing Industries Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till the present. He was born in 1953. By profession, he is a politician. He is a member of the Lok Janshakti Party. Presently he is serving as the 3rd State President of Lok Janshakti Party (Bihar) and a member of Lok Sabha.
26. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat:
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is the Jal Shakti Minister of India from 30th May 2021 till the present. He was born on 3rd October 1967 in Sri Madhopur, Rajasthan. He did his studies at Jai Narain Vyas University. By profession, he is a politician. He is a member of BJP and served the country as the State Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. 27. Raj Kumar Singh:
Raj Kumar Singh is the Power as well as New and Renewable Energy Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 20th December 1952 in Supaul, Bihar. He did BA from St.Stephen’s College, Delhi, LLb from Magadh University, Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. He is a member of the BJP and also serving as a member of Lok Sabha. 28. Hardeep Singh Puri:
Hardeep Singh Puri is the Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister as well as Housing and Urban Affairs Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 15th February 1952 in Delhi. He did his BA and MA from Hindu College, Delhi University. By profession, he was a Civil Servant and a politician. He is a member of BJP and served as permanent representative of India to the United Nations, President of the United Nations Security Council, State Minister for Civil Aviation. 29. Bhupendra Yadav:
Bhupendra Yadav is the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister as well as Labour and Employment Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 30th June 1969 in Gurgaon, Haryana. He did studies at the Government College of Ajmer. He is the National General Secretary of BJP and also serving as a member of Rajya Sabha.
30. G Kishan Reddy:
Gangapuram Kishan Reddy is the Culture, Tourism, and Development of North Eastern Region Minister of India from 7th July 2021 till present. He was born on 15th June 1960 in Andhra Pradesh. He did studies at the Central Institute of Tool Design. He is a member of BJP and served as President of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha, member of Legislative Assembly, Andhra Pradesh, member of Legislative Assembly Telangana, State Minister for Home Affairs.
