It is an autonomous engineering college that was established in 1948. It is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University, and Chartur Vidya Mandal manages it. In 1958 it became the Grant in aid institutions of the state government. In 1984 the Ministry of Urban Development under the Government of India approved this engineering college as one of the centers for training Environmental Engineers who are in service through its post-graduate program ME in Environmental Engineering. It has a total of 136 faculty members and 2294 students. Its campus is built on 19 acres. It offers admission in several undergraduate and postgraduate engineering courses with different specializations. It takes admission on the basis of marks obtained in GUJCET for B.Tech courses, and for admission in postgraduate, one has to apply in PGCET.
